THE PREAMBLE OF HOSTELLING SYSTEM
Hostels offer budget-oriented, companionable accommodation where guests/students can rent a bed and share a bathroom, lounge and sometimes a kitchen. In India, Pakistan and South Africa, hostels are referred to boarding schools or student dormitories in/around resident colleges and universities. In the other parts of the world, the word hostel mainly refers to properties offering shared accommodation to travelers or backpackers. First permanent youth hostel has been established for the living betterment of German youth in 1912. The hostels were an example of the vision to give relief to poor city youngsters to take fresh economical breath. At present, the idea of hostels have been rapidly spread overseas and eventually resulted different organizations have been composed or more than 90 different youth hostels associations representing over 4,500 youth hostels in over 80 countries.

Difference
There are several differences between hostels and hotels:
Hostels are more economical; rates are significantly lower, and many hostels have sharing programmes to books, DVDs and other items. For those who like Informal setting of accommodation, hostels do not typically contain the similar intensity of requirement as hotels.
For those who have a preference to mingle with their colleague guests, hostels usually have more general region and chances to socialize. Hostels are generally self-catering.
